An Immersive Journey

Wintergloed 2024 was a breathtaking 3 km light trail through the historic heart of Bruges. This year’s edition carried the theme Fire & Ice, guiding visitors from the warm pulse of the city center to a fairytale-like frozen landscape on the city’s ramparts. Along illuminated streets, guests discovered ten spectacular light installations blending the fiery warmth of flame with the icy beauty of winter. Each artwork told its own story, immersing visitors in a magical play of light and shadow.

The journey took audiences through Bruges’ historic streets, past highlights such as a majestic phoenix rising at the Spanish Loskaai. From colorful projections on iconic buildings to interactive experiences, Fire & Ice delivered an unparalleled visual spectacle.

As the full producer of the event, CREATE.eu was responsible for every aspect: concept development, technical engineering and planning, AV productions, software, installation, supervision, dismantling, and aftercare.

Highlights included:

  • The Rhythm of the Phoenix: A majestic phoenix rising endlessly from its ashes on a water curtain at the Spanish Loskaai, forming the fiery heart of the route.
  • Echoes of the North: On the vast Kruisvest plains, a small mammoth awakens, wandering the snowy expanse in search of its parents.
  • The Flow of Renewal: An 8-meter-high lava stream descending into the Bruges canals, fading into a waterfall symbolizing rebirth and new life.
  • Wings of Fire: A triptych of firebirds nesting among the picturesque buildings along the Gouden Handrei, finding refuge or taking flight under Bruges’ night sky.

With Fire & Ice, Wintergloed once again achieved an extraordinary fusion of art, light, sound, and interaction. Beyond highlighting the beauty of Bruges, it offered—for the second year in a row—an unforgettable experience of light and magic, and a true highlight of the city’s winter program.
